It already seems like a lifetime ago that I shot this Fresh 48 hospital session. I am so grateful to have gotten to capture these memories for this sweet family, right before everything changed. This is a strange time we are all living in, but babies are still being born, and parents are still falling in love with the little hearts that beat outside their bodies.
Read MoreFriends, I am so excited to share today’s post. I cannot even begin to tell you what a dream this session was to photograph. Maternity sessions (especially studio ones) are such a different beast from the type of sessions I normally photograph, and I really love pushing myself to get creative and try new things.
Read MoreI'm not going to sugarcoat it--the day we scheduled Rob and Dana's engagement session for was cold, really cold. Like 10 degrees cold. So, instead of having them shiver outside, we decided to find some unique indoor spots for their session.
Read MoreI know I say this every time I have a Fresh 48 session, but man, these sessions are my absolute favorite to photograph. I have always been drawn to documenting the arrival of a new baby, and some of the first shoots I ever did were Fresh 48s. Except they weren't called that back in 2010, or at least I hadn't heard that term being used.
Read MoreOne thing I love about maternity sessions is how versatile they can be. Maternity sessions are not a one size fits all, because every mama-to-be who steps in front of my camera is in a different place in her life. My main goal when photographing these sessions is to work with her to create images that celebrate her in this moment.
Read MoreI know I've said this before, but oh how I love Fresh 48 sessions. There is something so special about documenting this time in a family's life, because it is so fleeting.
Read MoreHow amazing is the female body? Every time I am lucky enough to photograph a mama to be I am reminded of this. I am in awe of every woman who steps in front of my lens at this time in her life and wants this piece of her journey documented.
Read MoreLast September I hopped a plane to NYC to attend a photo retreat hosted by photographers Elena S. Blair and Bre Thurston. To say I was excited to learn from those two was an understatement!
Read MoreOne of the things I love most about photographing births is the unpredictable nature of them. You never really know when a baby will make its way into the world.
Read MoreAll right friends, hold onto your butts. I’m borrowing one of my favorite movie quotes today because I’ve got a doozy of a blog post for you! (Bonus points for anyone who knows the movie that quote is from!) This one is a long one, so grab a cup of something delicious and settle in for my 2019 year in review!
Read MoreI live for Fresh 48 sessions. Seriously. There is something so magical about them. And real. These are moments that fly by, but gosh, do they deserve to be captured and remembered. Thinking back to the beginning of 2019, my first session of the year was a Fresh 48 hospital session down in Boston, and I'm feeling so grateful that I got to close out the year with a Fresh 48 session right here in Portland at Maine Medical Center.
Read MoreI know, I know! It’s the last day of 2019 and while everyone else is posting their year in review, I want to share some images from my Holiday Mini Sessions. I held these sessions only a few weeks ago at the same retail space where I hosted my Mother’s Day Minis and it was so much fun getting festive with all the families that stopped by!
Read MoreNewborn sessions are easily one of my favorite things to photograph. Because love. There is always so much love when a family has welcomed a new little soul into their lives. I met this lovely family at their beautiful home last Thursday to capture this special time in their lives, and I had so much fun getting to know them.
Read MoreI’m not going to lie, the weather was a little chilly during this family session at Winslow State Park in Freeport, but there was glorious sunshine to warm our faces, a beautiful rocky beach to explore, and an adventurous family willing to make the most of the afternoon.
Read MoreYou know what is surreal? Driving nine hours straight to make it to the hospital in time to photograph your bestie's Fresh 48 session. I got to meet sweet Sylvie at 36 hours young, and let me tell you, it was love at first squawk. This little lady has got quite the set of lungs on her, with a newborn cry that sounds more like a baby eaglet than a tiny human.
Read MoreGrab a cup of coffee friends, this post is a long one and I’m not sorry about it! I had been looking forward to Amanda and Jeff's family session since they booked me last December. Because we did a summer session the previous year, they decided to do fall this year and we lucked out with a beautiful (and warm!) afternoon at Maine Audubon in Falmouth.
Read MoreOne of the biggest compliments a photographer can receive is being hired by the same family year after year. I always feel deeply honored to be trusted to yet again capture a family's memories. One of my favorite parts of photographing families for a second time is getting to witness how much their little ones have grown and changed since the last time they were in front of my lens.
Read MoreI am so excited to share this family session on the blog today. Because this family! This location! And this beautifully sunny, fall day! We could not have asked for better weather for the M family's session at Maine Audubon in Falmouth, and I may or may not have done a happy dance in my car when I arrived and saw how beautiful the fields and the garden looked.
Read MoreSuch a cutie, this little guy had spiky hair and was very curious about me and my camera. He stayed alert for the majority of our session, only falling asleep towards the end. I loved witnessing Nikki step into this new role, and I am so grateful she trusted me to capture these memories for her!
Read MoreOh where to begin with this one? I could write so many good things about Christina and Nils, who found me on Facebook and reached out to me this past January to shoot their August wedding. After our first phone conversation, I remember feeling so excited to work with them. They both have a beautiful energy about them, and are some of the most kindest, genuine people I’ve met.
