I’m going to let you in on a little secret…one of the best parts of being a photographer is getting to witness important milestones for families and then being able to document these moments for them to look back on. A first birthday is definitely one of those special milestones, and deserves to be documented.

I was so excited when Kaitlyn reached out to have me do a session to celebrate her son Julian’s first birthday. You might remember this family from Julian’s Fresh 48 session last March—the last one I photographed before the pandemic—and their summer Maine Audubon session when Julian was about 5 months old.

We decided to do this session in their home, not knowing what kind of weather we’d have that day. Turns out we got really lucky weather-wise and were able to do photos in Julian’s nursery and then move outside for some as well. It was so cool to see how much Julian had grown since our last session; he was crawling, playing with toys, and giggling with his mom and dad the entire time. Thank you Kaitlyn and Kyle for continuing to trust me to capture these memories for you. Here are a few of my favorites from the session.
