B Family | Foggy Summer Beach Session | Ferry Beach in Scarborough | Maine Lifestyle Family Photographer | Stepheney Collins Photography
What is it that they always say about the weather in New England? If you don't like it, wait five minutes? That quote never felt more true than the evening of this beach session. When I left Portland to head to Ferry Beach in Scarborough, the sun was shining and it was a glorious summer day. The minute I crossed over the Scarborough line, poof! The sun vanished and I drove into a dense fog that blanketed everything the eye could see. And you know what? I didn't hate it. There was still magic to be made on that foggy beach, because the magic isn't found in the setting, but rather in the families themselves.
Sarah is one of my closest friends and I always get super excited for her annual family session. There’s something so special about being able to document a family and its ever-changing, ever-shifting relationships over time. I am always blown away by how connected Sarah, Jake, and Maggie are, and I love that we always end up heading to the beach for their session. The love and joy these three have for each other couldn't be dampened by a sunless evening on the beach, and even thought it was foggy (the pea soup kind no less!) Maggie didn't mind one bit. She still kicked her shoes off, dug her toes in the sand, and then proceeded to have the best time ever—she jumped, she danced, she even buried my sandals in the sand. I am so grateful to be able to tell their story year after year, freezing time for them if only for a moment. Here are a few of my favorites from that foggy evening.
